We conclude our holiday entertaining theme this week with a New Year's Eve Appetizer & Dessert Party for up to 12 people. Don't have 12 people? No worries ... most of the appetizers can be frozen! They're great to have on hand for last-minute entertaining or noshing.

We've added eight appetizer recipes, two chutneys, and another great dessert recipe. Three of those recipes are featured here ... find the others on our Members page.

Check out the complete entertaining menu with more photos, do-ahead tips, and timeline for this great cocktail party by clicking here.

Corn Cakes with Créme Fraîche & Caviar

An elegant appetizer for a very special party. What can be more festive than Caviar? The silver-dollar-sized southern corn cakes are the perfect base for it. The cakes can be made ahead and frozen, so keep some on hand for those very special times.

Shrimp in Spiced Phyllo w/ Tomato Chutney

The curried hazelnuts baked into the phyllo add an exotic flavor to the shrimp, and the sweet tomato chutney is an excellent accompaniment. My husband loves these because "they come with their own handles". These appetizers can be assembled up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerated until it's time to bake and serve.

Strawberry & White Chocolate Mousse Tart

This is a perfect dessert after a heavy meal. The mousse is surprisingly light. You could substitute any berry for the strawberries. Just select a complementary jam (for example, blackberry jam with blackberries). The original recipe says that this tart serves 8, but I say you can stretch it to 12. Having a sit-down dinner? Serve 8. Cocktail party? A small sliver of this tart is perfect. Save out some berries to serve alongside.
